j100_284x180.jpgLenovo, the company formerly known as Legend, bought out the ThinkPad and ThinkCentre franchise from IBM early last year.  Today, Lenovo released its first PCs that expand their offerings in the US, while retaining the Think line for medium and large business.  n100_nc_284x180.jpg

The Lenovo 3000 series of desktops and laptops is notable for going after the small business and some consumers at a competitive price ($399-999).  Another item of note is that the J105 desktops can be configured with AMD Athlon 64 and Sempron processors.  I'm looking forward to getting these into the labs to see if they're as good as the competition from Dell, HP, and Gateway.

I missed this preview toy at the 2006 Toy Fair, but it deserves a shoutout, especially for those of us who own no actual car in which to listen our iPods. The realistic Corgi model car (you can choose from a Cadillac Escalade or a Nissan 240 SX) serves as a speaker for your music player, and "rocks right to left, front to back, and up and down to the music" to your tunes. That sounds lively! And also sounds kind of like how I drive in an actual car, when someone lets me.

The iCar can connect to any digital audio player and also comes with "its own cool music." No details available on what that might be. Look for it in late summer, at a suggested price of $34.99.

New Toshiba gigabeat playersToshiba introduced two more players to its gigabeat line: the 512MB MEP-05FR ($119) and the 1GB MEP-10FK ($149). It's similar to the iPod Shuffle with its look and feel, but it has a 1.1-inch color OLED screen for viewing JPEG photos. It also features an FM tuner, voice recorder, 14-hour battery life, and is WMA-, MP3- and Napster-to-go compatible. The 05FR comes in a funky color mix, while the 10FK appears to only come in black. The "plus sign" navigational button is what the gigabeat MEG-F60S ($299-$450) had as well.

It seems that the Japanese versions of the flash players (the P5L and the P10L, available Feb 25th) come in more color choices.

The Toshiba site claims that both players are available now, but I can't find any online/store retailers selling it. Shucks, and it's so darn cute!
